Great Nurseries Within 2 hours of Tacoma
If you’re moving into a home with land, the garden center becomes a regular stop pretty quickly. These are a few spots worth knowing about.
Photo of the greenhouse at a listing of mine that I sold in Lewis County… swoon!
Best Nurseries Within About Two Hours of Tacoma
One of the things that happens pretty quickly when you buy a place with land is that garden centers just become part of your routine.
At first it’s usually small. You grab a few plants, maybe some soil, maybe you’re just trying to figure out what actually grows well here. And then it kind of snowballs. You start thinking about fruit trees, privacy hedges, raised beds, pasture, all of it.
If you’re anywhere around Tacoma, there are a handful of really good nurseries nearby… and a few that are absolutely worth the drive once you get more into it.
Watson’s Greenhouse & Nursery
(253) 845-7359
Puyallup
This is one of the main go-to spots for a reason. It’s big, easy to walk through, and has a really solid mix of everything (plants, trees, seasonal stuff, even a café.)
If you’re just getting started or want a place where you can see a lot of options in one trip, this is usually where I send people first.
Calendula Farm & Earthworks
Tacoma
(Check hours before you go — more of a farm setting than a traditional retail nursery)
This one feels completely different in a good way. It’s more of a working farm than a polished garden center, and that’s kind of the appeal. You’ll find starts, herbs, and plants that actually do well here, and it feels a lot more connected to the lifestyle people are trying to create.
Edgewood Nursery & Garden
(206) 339-0170
Edgewood
Smaller, but really solid.
This is a good stop when you don’t want to deal with something huge but still want quality plants and a local feel. It’s easy, straightforward, and one people tend to keep going back to.
Flower World
(360) 668-9575
Snohomish
If you’re doing a bigger project, this place is worth the drive.
It’s massive. Like, plan-for-it massive. Great for when you’re planting out a larger space, adding trees, or really trying to make progress on a property.
Molbak’s Garden + Home
(425) 483-5000
Woodinville
This is more of a destination.
You go here when you want ideas. The layout, the displays, the selection… it’s one of those places where you walk away with a clearer vision of what you want your space to feel like.
Christianson’s Nursery & Greenhouse
(360) 466-3821
Mount Vernon
If you’re up for a drive, this one is worth it.
It’s set on an old farm and has a completely different feel than most nurseries. More relaxed, a little slower, and honestly just a really enjoyable place to walk around.
